Fuji Xerox Australia Cleans Up at 2010 Banksia Environmental Awards
Sydney, 18 October, 2010 - Fuji Xerox Australia has been announced as the winner of the Leading in Sustainability award at the 2010 Banksia Awards, Australia's most prestigious environmental awards. The company has won the Leading in Sustainability award in the large business category for its achievements in economic, social and environmental performance.
The 22-year old Banksia awards recognise and celebrate Australia's leading environmental sustainability initiatives across business, government and community organisations. The award ceremony, held on Friday night at the Sydney Town Hall, acknowledges and celebrates Australia's leading examples of innovation, passion and dedication, moving the nation to a more sustainable future.
At the 2010 Awards Fuji Xerox Australia was recognised as an example of a highly evolved and integrated approach to sustainability through its commitment to reducing the impact of its products and its customers' footprint, as well as the company's total approach to product innovation and supply chain management.
Nick Kugenthiran, Managing Director of Fuji Xerox Australia, said "Since its inception, the Banksia Environmental Awards have earned the reputation as the most prestigious environmental awards in Australia. We feel very honoured to have won such a notable award that recognises our commitment to the environment and a sustainable future."
"Initiatives such as the Banksia Awards provide strong confirmation of our efforts to become a sustainable organisation by grasping the strategic business value and opportunities inherent in sustainability challenges," said Kugenthiran.
Fuji Xerox Australia was deemed by the judges to have demonstrated leadership by fully integrating sustainable principles and practices into operational business activities and reducing the organisation's footprint. One of the success stories in Fuji Xerox Australia's sustainability program is their Eco Manufacturing Centre, a state-of-the-art engineering facility for the remanufacture of parts and sub-assemblies removed from equipment during service. The centre helps to significantly reduce the amount of electronic waste that ends up in Australia's landfills. An award-winning site, the Fuji Xerox Australia Eco Manufacturing Centre celebrates its 10th year of operation this year, and remanufactures approximately 250,000 parts per annum to better than new condition.
Celebrating 50 years of operation in Australia, the company, its management and staff are driven to create sustainable value for its stakeholders and this is reflected in their commitment to environmental responsibility and continuous improvement across all areas of business.
