OPUS Group employs Fuji Xerox inkjet technology to drive customer value

Sydney, Australia - 9 July 2014 - OPUS Group will use continuous feed inkjet technology through Fuji Xerox in its publishing division to produce high impact colour on digital papers, using closed-loop controls.

“Fuji Xerox has long been recognised as a leader in toner-based technologies for graphic communications, and is now applying its significant cache of inkjet technologies and intellectual property to meet the needs of production users, in a way that adds value to their business,” said Paul Sanelli, Solutions Marketing Manager, Fuji Xerox Australia.

Vivid image quality on light weight papers
This inkjet technology can produce vivid, full-colour images and outstanding text quality on lighter weight papers, reducing paper usage and delivering colour output to meet customer expectations.

Innovation in offering
“Digital production technology is a marvel of research and engineering, and an example of how our ink technology can address the needs of production customers,” Sanelli continued.

“Rather than focusing on just the technology and what it can produce, we worked with OPUS to understand what the Group’s business goals were and what they wanted to achieve in coming years. We know the market is changing with strong competition from digital and online products. There are limited numbers of titles available in print, while digital book pages are growing at 16 percent and the number of self-published titles is increasing. There is also strong competition from other entertainment media. These changing demands of the marketplace, and the ongoing issues of obsolescence and inventory management, have driven the move to a print-on-demand model.”

OPUS also provides its customers with transactional and marketing management services, both of which require systems capable of complicated variable data and high speed quality colour print. The new inkjet production system delivers both, allowing OPUS to continue to provide supply chain efficiencies for customers.

OPUS Group decided to partner with Fuji Xerox Australia for several reasons.

“After analysing the market and researching all vendors’ inkjet equipment options, we identified the strength of Fuji Xerox’s product portfolio, with its high quality colour output, its rigorous ongoing research and development strategy and the company’s highly skilled technical team, which has already deployed 20 installations in the Australian and New Zealand marketplaces,” said Cliff Brigstocke, CEO of OPUS Group.

“OPUS felt that Fuji Xerox would best support and enable the delivery of value to its customers. By delivering print on demand OPUS can support its customers to manage inventory and reduce waste,” said Brigstocke.
